Baseball Drops Game Two to St. Bonaventure

Emmitsburg, Md. (March 18, 2023) – Homeruns turned out to be the deciding factor as the Mount won game one through homeruns and today was St. Bonaventure who won 10-7. A hard-fought game where the Mount had produced offensively with 14 hits and two homeruns.
 
St. Bonaventure was the first to lead the game with a two-run shot over center field by Christian Szcablewski in the top of the first. Singles by Jayson Kramer and Scott Seeker tied the game in the third, 2-2.
 
Homeruns from Mark Darakjy, Jackson Dejohn, and another by Szcablewski credits the four consecutive innings of scoring for the Bonnies and put them ahead 8-2 going into the bottom of the sixth.
 
The Mount found a burst of energy in the sixth through the bats of Jayson Kramer who hit a two-run shot, and Shane Wockley who knocked one over the center field fence, 8-5. Kris Giangreco made his first appearance on the mound in the top of the seventh and found trouble as he allowed a run and loaded the bases after striking out one. Luke Pryor came in to relieve, one run was scored on a sac fly to center field, however, he was able to successfully pitch out of the inning, 10-5.
 
The Mountaineers scored one in the seventh yet had trouble the rest of the way, able to score an additional run in the ninth ending the scoring, 10-7. Coach Leoni pulled some tricks out of his bag, a valiant effort, yet the team came up short in the end.
 
Jayson Kramer went 2-4 with a homerun and four RBIs while crossing the plate once. Tristan McAlister went 2-3, drew a walk, and tripled to right center in the third. Aiden Tierney went 3-5, also tripled, and crossed the plate once.
 
Luke Pryor closed the game out as he pitched the last 2 2/3 innings, walked four, struck out three, and allowed no runs on zero hits.
