Box Score Emmitsburg, Md. (March 16, 2023)--The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team posted its second consecutive victory, a 5-2 win over visiting Nichols College at the Mount St. Mary's Tennis Courts on Thursday afternoon.

Nichols took the early lead by winning two of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point.  The Mount's tandem of Jarrett Karnibad and Filippos Zachiotis won 6-3 over Ludwig Schlatzer and Leon Zeis at the No. 1 doubles position.  Nichols countered when Caio Dieckmann and Yannick De Vet earned a 6-2 win over Pablo Martinez Zuccardi and Elliot Stevens at No. 2 doubles and Perez Santiago and Trevor Schwarzmann won 6-4 at No. 3 doubles over the Mount's Andrew Allen and Marcel Cronin.

The Mount won five of the six singles matches to win the match.  Zachiotis was a 6-2, 6-4 winner over Schwarzmann at No. 1 singles with Stevens cruising past Zeis, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 2 spot of the lineup.  Karnibad won 6-3, 6-2 over De Vet at No. 3 singles with Martinez Zuccardi earning a 7-5, 6-3 win over Schlatzer at the No. 4 spot.  The Mount's final point was a 6-2, 6-2 win by Marcel Cronin over Enzo Matos Balleaux at the No. 6 position.

The Mount opens Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play against Siena on Sunday, March 19, at 5:00 p.m.  The match will be the Mount's first-ever MAAC regular season match and will be played at the Hershey Racquet Club in Hershey, Pa.
