Emmitsburg, Md. (February 11, 2023) – The 2023 MAAC Championships is finished. With the first appearance in the MAAC Championships the Mount Men's team placed seventh tallying a final score of 260.5, while the women's team placed eighth tallying a final score of 239.
Senior
Montana Griffith placed 14
th in the 1-meter diving event, tallying a score of 153.45.
Jessalyn Powell finished 17
th, tallying a score of 110.20.
Sophomore Lauren Wetzel finished 11
th in the 200 back with a final time of 2:08.42. Junior
Maddy Samuels finished eighth in the 100 free tallying a time of 53.25, while sophomore
Meghan Speicher finished 15
th with a final time (53.46). Freshman
Christina Lazari finished ninth in the 200-breast tallying a final time of 2:20.52. Lazari shattered the previous record (2:26.47) held by Alyssa Felos set back in November of 2017.
Junior
Dahna Yoon and freshman
Abigail Steckiel competed in the 200 fly, Yoon placed fifth tallying a final time of 2:07.32, while Steckiel placed seventh notching a final time 2:08.82.
The women's team that competed in the 400 free relay included Samuels, Speicher, Lazari, and Steckiel finished in fifth place tallying a final time of 3:32.04
Junior
Jason Fitch placed second in the 200 back with a final time of 1:45.89. Freshman
John Baroody finished in 13
th tallying a final time of 1:45.28. Fitch broke his previous record (1:45.86) that was set in February of 2022 at the NEC Championships. Graduate student
Peter Jones finished 14
th in the 100 free tallying a time of 46.43.
Sophomore
Aidan Grady finished 3
rd in the 200-breast tallying a final time of 2:00.67. Grady broke the previous record (2:01.30) held be
Jacob Wallace set back in February of 2021. Junior,
Jacob Wallace and
Griffin Distler also competed in the 200-breast, Wallace placed tenth notching a final time of 2:05.07, while Distler placed 15
th notching a final time 2:09.09.
The men's team that competed in the 400 free relay included junior

Jonah Hancock, freshman
Austin Toland, and graduate student
Peter Jones. The team finished seventh place notching a final time of 3:08.16.
