Men’s Water Polo Locks Six Seed on Regular Season’s Final Day

EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 5, 2023) – By virtue of goal differential, Mount St. Mary's men's water polo received a tiebreaker over Johns Hopkins for sixth place on the last day of the regular season. Although they fell 19-7 at Navy, JHU dropped their contest by 16 goals to Wagner, allowing the Mount to maintain their tiebreaker advantage.

As a result, the Mountaineers enter the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Championship as the No. 6 seed for the tournament. The MAWPC Championships begin in two weeks at Bucknell University.

Michael Lemishko registered a hat trick in Sunday's showdown with the Midshipmen. All three goalies saw action in the cage, with Sherif Hosni earning the highest number of saves with five. Chrysostomos Valavanis also had a multi-goal game and drew the most exclusions.

The Mount finished the regular season with a mark of 7-20.
