EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 10, 2023) – A 37-year veteran of high school music and ensemble teaching and directing, Robert Maag joins Mount St. Mary's as its Director of Athletic Pep Band.
 
Revitalized in 2021, the Mount Pep Band performs at home basketball games and at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship.  
 
Maag retired from the high school circuit this past June. His experience traversed the states of Maryland and Pennsylvania. Since 1990, he worked for the Shippensburg Area School District, directing all high school instrumental ensembles and teaching courses in Music Theory and Music in Film. Prior to that, Maag served in positions with Harrisburg City Public Schools and Prince Georges County Public Schools.
 
On the collegiate level, Maag served one season as the Pep Band Director at Fort Scott Community College in Kansas right after his graduation from the University of Nebraska. In addition to his bachelor's degree in music education, he earned a Master's Degree in Percussion Performance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
