APPALACHIAN, N.Y. (October 2nd, 2023) - Mount St. Mary's men's golf finished the final round of the Matthews Auto Intercollegiate with a score of 294, identical to the first round, while placing tied or seventh with a gross score of 588 (+12). Junior
Devin Smith placed first in the tournament with a pair of under par outings, a 68 (-4) in round one and a 67 (-5) in round two to combine for a gross score of 135 (-9). The young Smith went into to round two just one stroke out of first place and was able to finish two strokes lower than the next opponent.
Villanova won the tournament posting a score of 571 (-5), while Binghamton and St. Bonaventure tied for second with an identical score of 573 (-3).
Ben Smith and
Juan Fradera (Individual) also posted under par days, Smith a 71 (-1) and Fradera a 70 (-2). Smith and Fradera finished tied for 17th with final scores of 145 (+1).
Martin Hurtado finished tied for 58th with a final score of 152 (+8), while
Aaron Sorkin finished tied for 67th posting a score of 156 (+12).
Santiago Bonequi finished tied for 79th with a final score of 159 (+15).
