EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 13, 2023) – Jumping out to a 12-3 lead in the first half, Mount St. Mary's men's water polo secured a victory against the Gannon Golden Knights Friday at the ARCC Swimming Pool.
Seven goals by six different players in the first quarter put the Mountaineers ahead.
Michael Lemishko put the Mount up 2-1 with 5:25 in the period and the team never looked back.
Gunner Lanquist put the home side up by multiple scores, and
Nate Valentine capped off the frame. The team's largest lead came with 4:34 left in the half on a goal from
Eli Thalos.
Up 12-5 at the break, the Mountaineers matched the Golden Knights in the second half, scoring five times.
Aaron Tarr tallied three goals in the final 16 minutes to lead the way.
With the victory, Mount St. Mary's improves to 6-14 on the year.
The weekend continues with a road game at Bucknell Saturday (Oct. 14) and the home finale and Senior Day Sunday (Oct. 15) versus Johns Hopkins.
