Emmitsburg, Md. (January 16, 2023) – The Mount St. Mary's swim and dive teams hosted their first meet of the week versus Lafayette. The teams competed in 32 events. The men's team lost 175-94, while the women's team lost 143-106.
Of the women's team, sophomore
Meghan Speicher had a remarkable day. Speicher placed first in her two individual events, those being the 200 free (2:13.79) and the 100 free (1:01.25). Speicher anchored in the 200-medley relay aiding her team a second-place finish (2:05.37), while being the leadoff swimmer in the 200 free relay helping to earn her team a second-place finish (1:53.22).
Dahna Yoon, Abby Steckiel, and
Elizabeth Horner placed first in individual events. Yoon finished first in a head-to-head battle in the 200-fly tallying a time 2:26.00, Steckiel placed first in 100 fly notching a time 1:06.43, while Horner finished first in the 200 Individual Medley tallying a time 2:35.74.
Of the men's team,
Aidan Grady,
Griffin Distler,
Luke Davis, and
Jonah Hancock placed second in the 200 free relay tallying a time 1:37.02. The team had standouts in
Jason Fitch,
Aidan Grady, and
Austin Toland today as they placed first in their individual events. Fitch placed first in 200 back tallying a time 2:09.95, Grady placed first in 100 breast tallying a time 1:04.22, while Toland finished first in 50 free with a time 24.67.

Mount St. Mary's Swim and Dive will host St. Francis Brooklyn in a dual meet at the Arcc Swimming Pool on Saturday, January 21 at 1 p.m. in Emmitsburg, Md.
