MOUNTAINEER INVITATIONAL FINAL RESULTS |
WOMEN'S RESULTS (MOUNT ONLY) | MEN'S RESULTS (MOUNT ONLY) | LOYOLA INVITATIONAL RESULTS (MOUNT ONLY)
September 25, 2022—The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's tennis teams had a pair of tandems advance to the finals before rain washed out the final day of competition at the Mountaineer Invitational this weekend. The men also had three pairs of teammates compete at the Loyola Invitational this weekend as well.
The Mountaineer Invitational format had each school enters doubles pairs in the tournament. Those pairs then played a doubles match, and the individuals will then faced each other in best-of-three formats. Winning teams advanced in the bracket while the losing teams moved into consolations.
On the men's side at the Mountaineer Invitational,
Jarrett Karnibad and Filippos Zacchiotis advanced to the finals with a pair of victories. The duo swept pairs from Howard and Saint Francis U by 3-0 scores to move on to the finals.
For the women,
Victoria Papadopoulou and
Bella Pescatore won a pair of matches to advance to the finals as well. The pair swept a duo from Saint Francis U, 3-0, in their first match before rallying for a 2-1 win over a Delaware State tandem to move on to the finals.
At Loyola,
Giovanni Abriola and
Drew Nicolae teamed for a first round win while
Joshua Johnson and
Luke Papayoanou also earned a first round win. Both teams fell in their next match and were in the consolation brackets.
The Mount women's team returns to the court at Towson on October 14-16 while the men's team is next in action at the ITA Atlantic Regional in mid-October.
