Emmitsburg, Md. (September 12, 2022)- Junior Ben Smith had begun this day lagging the competition. After his slow start, he built a comeback to place him in 11^th place shooting a 69 (-2). Smith is currently sitting four strokes behind first place in a very tight contest. The Mountaineers are in 15^th place shooting a team score of 299 (+15).
 
Appalachian State leads all in the tournament with a team score of 269 (-15). Appalachian State's own Herman Huus is tied for first on the individual leaderboards, leading the competition with a score of 65.
 
Graduate student Matthew Kinsey is tied for 68^th shooting a 75 (+4), while freshman Nathan Pheng is one stroke behind shooting a 76 (+5). Junior Hank Schaefer is tied for 91^st with sophomore teammate Devin Smith shooting a 79 (+8) after one round.
 
The final round of the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational will resume tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
