Women’s Lacrosse Downed 17-5 by Loyola

EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 13, 2022) – Mount women's lacrosse falls to #6 Loyola Maryland 17-5 in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament to close out their 2022 season. Dani Donoghue scored two goals to lead the Mountaineers, while Erin Anderson, Beanie Colson, and Alayna Pagnotta each scored one goal. The Mount was outshot 32-20 by Loyola.

Elli Kluegel, Jillian Wilson, Georgia Latch, and Lily Rosenzweig had three goals for the Greyhounds, while Sam Fielder, Latch, and Rosenzweig had two assists to lead the offense.

Madison Bradley made seven saves for the Mountaineers, while Kaitlyn Larsson made six saves for Loyola in between the pipes.

Pagnotta scored 18 seconds into the game on a free position shot to give the Mount an early 1-0 lead. The Greyhounds responded with a 3-0 run that lasted 1:32, with three different players finding the back of the net. Loyola went on a 4-0 run to increase their lead to 7-1, then Anderson scored with a 1:07 left in the first to cut the deficit to five. Kluegel scored two goals before the end of the first to take a 9-2 advantage. 

Loyola opened up the second quarter with Latch's second goal of the game, then Donoghue scored on a free position attempt to make the score 10-3 and register her 50th goal of the year. The Greyhounds ended the second on a 3-0 run, giving themselves a 13-3 lead going into halftime.

Latch scored her third goal of the game to start the third quarter and extend the lead to 11. Loyola scored two more goals to make the score 16-3, but Colson converted a free position attempt for her 26th goal of the season to cut the lead to 12.

The fourth quarter started with both teams trading possessions until Donoghue scored another free position shot to trail by 11. Loyola scored a goal with nine seconds to close out the game and reach the final score of 17-5.
