EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 30, 2022) – On Saturday afternoon, Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse picked up their seventh straight win after defeating CCSU 14-1.
Zoe Hurlburt scored five goals to reach 100 career goals.
Jordan Groover added three goals, while
Erin Anderson had two goals and one assist. The Mountaineers outshot the Blue Devils 22-12.
Olivia Gianakos scored the lone goal for CCSU.
Madison Bradley made seven saves for the Mount. Kya Risher made five saves, while Adrianna Richards registered one save for the Blue Devils.
Hurlburt scored her first to give the Mount a 1-0 lead; Groover scored on a free position attempt to double the lead. The Mountaineers made the score 3-0 with 11 seconds remaining in the first quarter when Hurlburt scored a free position attempt.
Anderson extended the lead to four on a nice pass from
Alayna Pagnotta that set up an easy goal for Anderson on a man advantage. On the next possession, the Mount made it 5-0 when Anderson found Groover cutting to the net and hit her in stride for a quick shot that got past Risher. Groover completed her hat trick on a free position shot to give the Mountaineers a 6-0 lead.
Dani Donoghue scored 53 seconds into the third quarter to increase the lead to seven.
Christina Haspert made the score 8-0 on a precision pass that found Haspert in front of the net and buried the opportunity. Donoghue got her second goal of the quarter to make it 9-0. Hurlburt completed her hat trick after she ran past her defender and fired a shot near post that found the back of the net for a 10-0 lead. Anderson and Hurlburt scored late goals to close out the third quarter and give the Mountaineers a 12-0 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Pagnotta scored midway through the fourth to increase the lead to 13-0. Hurlburt got her 100th career goal on a free position shot that she shot low that found the net and gave the Mount a 14-0 lead. CCSU scored with 1:26 left on a man advantage to reach the final scoreline of 14-1.
Mount St. Mary's heads to Smithfield, Rhode Island, as the number two seed and take on Wagner on Thursday, May 5th.
