Seventh Inning Dooms Mount St. Mary’s Baseball Against FDU

EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 15, 2022) – Competitive for six innings, Mount St. Mary's baseball fell victim to a nine-run seventh by the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights. The Mount faltered by a 15-3 final.

Starting pitcher Luke Pryor grinded through six innings, but FDU found a way to put the crooked number when he returned for the seventh. On offense, the Mountaineers scattered seven hits by seven different players. Danny Salisbury secured a two-run double in the ninth inning, and Jason Rivera tallied the team's other extra base hit.

A pitchers' duel after two frames, FDU cracked the scoreboard with an RBI single from Joan Sosa. Brelon Harden followed with an RBI double to make it 2-0 Knights in the fourth. Efrain Correa, Jr. put the Mount on the board with an RBI grounder in the bottom half of the inning.

Single runs came across for FDU in the fifth and sixth. Then came the seventh as the Knights busted the game open with the first 10 batters reaching base safely. Brelon Harden delivered the biggest blow with a grand slam.

Mount St. Mary's will look to salvage the series finale Saturday (Apr. 16) at 1 p.m.
