Baltimore, Md. (March 29, 2022)—Mount St. Mary's stretched its win streak to five with a doubleheader sweep at Coppin State on Tuesday. The Mount took the opening game, 6-2, before posting a 7-0 win game two.
Mariah Godde went 3-for-5 in the two games to lead the Mountaineers.
In the opening game,
Maggie Kane's two-out, two-run single snapped a 2-2 tie to propel the Mount to a 6-2 win over the Eagles.

Olivia Murphy picked up the win for the third consecutive game with three innings of scoreless relief.
The Mount (12-14) jumped out to the early lead in the top of the first inning.

The Mountaineers were aggressive on the base paths again in the second inning. Kane walked to lead off the inning, and she went first to third on a
Zoe Wilcox sacrifice bunt. That set the table for Godde, who delivered a two-out RBI single up the middle for a 2-1 advantage. The Eagles answered again in the bottom of the second when Brissa Alvarado walked, moved to second on a sacrifice, and scored on a Brooke Caballero base hit that tied the score at 2-2.

Zoe Truxon and
Julia Vincent into scoring position. Kane followed with a clutch single up the middle to plate both runners for a 4-2 advantage
The Mount added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning. Godde walked with one out to start the rally. Perry, who was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week earlier in the day, singled to right field, and an error by the Coppin State right fielder allowed Godde to score and Perry to reach third base. Gilliano followed with a sacrifice fly to center field to score Perry for a 6-2 lead.
Amanda Berkley started for the Mount, allowing a pair of runs in four innings of work. Murphy pitched the final three innings, allowing one hit with two strikeouts to earn the win. The win improves Murphy's record to 4-2 this season.
The Mount scored three times in the second and two more in the third to take control of the second game en route to a 7-0 victory. Godde went 2-for-3 at the plate to pace the Mount offense in the victory.
In the second, Kane singled and stole second base to set the table for
Brianna Manni, who came through with a two-base hit to put the Mount ahead. Manni advanced to third on a wild pitch, and then scored to make it 2-0 on a second wild pitch. Godde doubled and Perry came through with a triple to plate Godde with the third run. Perry was thrown out at the plate trying for the inside-the-park home run.
In the third, Gilliano walked and stole second base ahead of Bonshock being hit by a pitcher to put two runners on base. A wild pitch put the pair in scoring position for
Kassidy Johnson, who singled to make it 5-0. The Mount added two more runs in the sixth on a Godde RBI single and a Gilliano RBI groundout.
Elizabeth King earned the win, tossing four scoreless innings in her second start of the season.
Avery Neuhart retired all nine batters she faced in three scoreless innings of relief to earn the save.
The Mountaineers are back in action this weekend when they host a three-game Northeast Conference series against Central Connecticut at Our Lady of the Meadows Field. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and close out the series with a single game at noon on Sunday.
