GENEVA, Ohio (February 25, 2022) – Sophomore
Jake Wallace cleared the NCAA "B" Cut with his performance in the 100 yard breaststroke, and several players earned runner-up finishes during Mount St. Mary's fourth day at the Northeast Conference Championship.
Entering the final day of competition, the Mount men are in fifth with 308 points and the women eighth with 127 points.
Wallace finished second in the 100 breast, registering a time of 54.11 seconds. That surpassed the cut time of 54.27 seconds. His effort was one of three second place finishes.
Jason Fitch took the runner-up spot in the 100 backstroke, breaking his own school record in 48.41 seconds. Both were members of the 400 freestyle relay team that earned a second place finish of 3:18.12, along with
Peter Jones and
Austin Dodd.
The women's team evening was capped by
Kira Buchler and her 11
th place time in the 100 backstroke. The senior completed the event in 57.76 seconds.
Dahna Yoon and
Alexandra Shandrenko earned entries into the nighttime finals.
Additional qualifiers for the men included Dodd's sixth place finish in the 200 butterfly,
Jonathan Mata and his 11
th place time in 51.92 seconds in the 100 back, and
Patrick Rankin with a 124.15 score for the 1 meter dive.
The last day of the NEC Championships takes place tomorrow, February 26
th. Preliminaries start at 10 a.m. with finals at six in the evening.
