GENEVA, Ohio (February 24, 2022) – Mount St. Mary's swimming & diving surpassed three school records and many personal records toppled during the third day of the Northeast Conference Championships. With two days remaining, the Mount men are in fifth with 193 points and the women stand eighth at 97 points.
Nicholas Santorelli overthrew his own record in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:40.53, taking fourth in the championship final.
Jake Wallace swam past the 100 butterfly record set by teammate
Ethan Pham, coming in sixth at 49.89 seconds. The men's 200 freestyle relay broke the third record, capping off the day with a 1:23.35 fifth place finish.
Five more student-athletes secured new personal bests.
Austin Dodd finished right behind Wallace in the 100 fly, securing a time of 49.92 seconds. The women's race featured PR's from
Valeria Villagran (56.28) and
Alexandra Shandrenko (57.71). For the 200 free,
Peter Jones (1:42.63) and
Meghan Speicher (1:53.91) reached new heights, with Jones' time taking a seventh place finish in the championship final.
The women's 200 meter freestyle relay also set a new season mark for 2021-22, completing the event in 1:35.96.
Day four begins at 10 a.m. Friday. Events include the 200 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, the men's 1 meter dive and the 400 medley relay.
