EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 1, 2022) – With a victory over La Verne and a defeat to #16 ranked California Baptist, Mount St. Mary's men's water polo went 2-2 at the Gary Troyer Tournament. By winning over the Leopards, the Mount achieved double-digit wins for the first time in program history, improving to 10-6.

Scoring 15 times before half, the Mount blasted by La Verne and never looked back. Offense was plentiful as the team shot 51.1 percent from the field and made opportunities despite only two power plays and penalties throughout the game.
Tommaso Baldineti had a hat trick by the end of the first quarter. From then on, La Verne never got closer than five, and the Mountaineers possessed a 10-point lead with 51 seconds left in the second period.

Michael Lemishko recorded hat tricks, and with 1:50 remaining, freshman
Aidan Zieger tallied his first collegiate goal.

The Lancers' offense came fast and furious for the Mountaineers, converting over 70 percent of their attempts. Two separate 3-0 runs propelled CBU to an early lead and Mount St. Mary's to an insurmountable deficit.
One positive for the Mount was efficiency on penalties, capitalizing on five out of 10 chances. Many of those conversions came in the second half – a large reason for six goals scored in the third period.
