Emmitsburg, Md. (September 10, 2021)—The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's tennis team opened the 2021-22 season today by hosting the Mountaineer Invitational at the Mount St. Mary's Tennis Courts.  The first day of the tournament saw the fields advance to the Round of 16.

The Mount men had a pair of teams advance in the main bracket.  The Mount trio of senior Marcel Kronin, junior Jarrett Karnibad and sophomore Pablo Martinez Zuccardi moved were the first group to advance to the quarterfinals in the main draw while Freshman Filipos Zachiotis and junior Russell Armstrong advanced to the Round of 16.

All pairings played the doubles match in the round of 16 today with the singles matches deciding those matches being played tomorrow morning.

The tournament format features pairs from each team in the bracket.  Those pairs will play a doubles match, and the individuals will then face each other in best-of-three formats.  Winning teams advance in the bracket while the losing teams move into consolations.
