EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 20, 2021) – Mount St. Mary's baseball was shown no mercy by the homestanding Bryant Bulldogs Thursday, falling 20-3 in the opening matchup of the 2021 season finale.
Aside from 0-0, the Mount mustered one tie in the ballgame, when
AJ Holcomb belted his fourth home run of the season in the second inning to make it 1-1. Holcomb's homer also ties him with the team's high.
After that, Bryant busted the contest wide open with a pair of six-run frames – once in the second inning and again in the fifth. The Bulldogs finished the game with 20 safe hits and benefited from five Mountaineer walks and four errors.
Thomas Savastio helped supply the remaining two runs for the Mount, both coming in the fourth. He singled to score
Ryan Fisher before coming home on a wild pitch.
Game two between the clubs takes place Friday (May 21) at Conaty Park in Rhode Island.
