EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 18, 2021) – Sophomore
Brady Drawbaugh homered twice in the series finale with Fairleigh Dickinson, but Mount St. Mary's baseball fell in the rubber match, 8-6, at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex.
Drawbaugh now leads the Mount in batting average with a .321 clip, with the Lovettsville, Va. native also leading in homers with four. He was joined by
Thomas Savastio and
Myles Nicholson with multi-hit games, with Savastio driving home a pair.
For the third straight game, Mount St. Mary's took the early lead. Savastio drove home Nicholson with a double, followed by a double from
Connor Dulin to score Savastio. FDU responded by taking a 3-2 lead in the third.
Drawbaugh's first round tripper in the fourth exchanged the lead back to the Mount. The Knights rallied in the sixth, taking the lead back for good.
FDU added insurance runs in the eighth, which proved crucial for the ninth after Drawbaugh hit a solo shot to pull within two. The next Mount batters were retired, allowing the Knights to take the series.
