EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 7, 2021) – Kiahi Horan delivered his best offensive game in a Mount St. Mary's uniform. He and
Jason O'Donnell scored 11 goals combined, but Wagner shut down almost all other opportunities as the Seahawks defeated the Mountaineers, 19-14.
Horan scored six goals on 10 shots. His goal count now stands at 39, which is the third most on the team.
Many of the goals came as the Mount worked to dig themselves out of an early hole. Wagner scored the first three before O'Donnell converted a penalty to get the home side on the board. The lead extended to 5-1, then the Mount played even to end the first quarter at 7-3.
The next two periods saw the sides go back-and-forth, with the Seahawks holding onto their lead in a contest rife with emotion. In the fourth quarter, Mount St. Mary's tried to charge back and take advantage of exclusions but were held at bay. Horan secured three goals in the final frame to keep hope alive.
Kacper Cieplik scored twice for the second straight game. O'Donnell and
Eli Thalos added four assists each, which ties a team high.
