EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 23, 2021) – Mount St. Mary's sophomore
Jason O'Donnell registered five goals as the team returned to Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference play, but the Navy Midshipmen halted almost every other opportunity in a 18-6 defeat in Annapolis.
O'Donnell's effort helped the Mount keep pace in a tough match. After falling behind 4-1, the Quebecer earned another halftime hat trick by scoring three goals to keep the game at 8-4 by halftime. He would score twice more in the third quarter before the Mountaineers were shutout in the final frame.
Zach Fischer scored the sixth goal, a first quarter strike.
Eli Thalos led with three assists and four drawn exclusions.
The defeat drops Mount St. Mary's record to 6-14 (1-4 MAWPC).
Off the remainder of this weekend, the Mount readies to travel to Bucknell (Oct. 30) before their first home game against George Washington (Oct. 31).
