Jones, Twizell and Company Lead Men During Day Two of Swimming Championships

EMMITSBURG, Md. (Feb. 20, 2020) - Peter Jones and Will Twizell and the men's relay team were pivotal to the men's success during the second day of the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Championships. The squad is currently in sixth place with 74 points scored. 

Jones anchored the 200 relay that registered a time of 1:23.52, qualifying them for the National Invitational in Cleveland next month. Ryan Griffiths led the charge, and the Mount received support in the middle legs by Gregory Afolabi-Brown and Jonathan Mata. The time was good for seventh place and 24 points towards the Mount's total. 

Individually, Jones earned an 11th place finish with a 20.86 second time in the 50 freestyle. Twizell joined him as a scorer with a seventh place effort in a 1:50.46 time and seven points in the 200 individual medley. 

On the women's side, Kira Buchler and Valeria Villagran registered times of 24.55 seconds and 24.95 seconds, respectively, in the 50 meter finals. 

Day three for both championships start at 10 a.m. with preliminaries followed by 6 p.m. finals.
