MEN'S RESULTS | MEN'S TRIALS | WOMEN'S RESULTS 

EMMITSBURG, Md. (Feb. 19, 2020) - Mount St. Mary's swimmer Will Twizell punched his ticket for Australia's Olympic Trials with his performance on day one of the CCSA Swimming & Diving Championships. His time of 1:04.88 in the 100 meter breaststroke sets up a potential run for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo and was the highlight of the first day of events for the swimming & diving teams. 

The senior from Adelaide has specialized in the breaststroke since his arrival in Emmitsburg. Entering the season, he holds the school records for several times, including five yard records and two for meters. The time of 1:04.88 overtakes the original record of 1:05.69 held by John Wilson. 

Australia's 2020 Olympic Trials will take place June 14-19 in the South Australia Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Oaklands Park. 

Final results from the first day of CCSA include two seventh place finishes in relays. John Mata, Twizell, Gregory Afolabi-Brown, and Peter Jones earned a time of 1:32.25 in the 200 meter relay. In the 800 meter, Andrew Jones, Griffin Distler, Brock Cudahy, and Ryan Griffiths finished with a time of 7:03.96. 

On the women's side at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships, the women took eighth in the 200 yard medley relay. The time of 1:48.54 was completed by Kira Buchler, Jordan Friedman, Valeria Villagran, and Juliet Whitman. 

The men's team stands in seventh with 61 points, and the women's team stands in ninth with 22 points.

Several swimmers took top times in the trials on the men's sides. This includes a one through three in the 50 butterfly, led by Jones with 23.19 seconds. Cudahy snagged second in 23.81, followed by Matt Hart in 25.28. 

Day two for both sides begins at 10 a.m. with preliminary events.
