MOUNT UPDATE
This past weekend the Mount swimming and diving team welcomed VMI for two meets taking place on Friday and Saturday. Friday was highlighted by Senior Day in which Mount St. Mary's honored eleven seniors from both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams. The Mount women's swimming and diving team took both meets from the Keydets winning 137-73 on Friday and 141-66 on Saturday. Highlights included Colette Robinson's first-place finish in the 50m freestyle (30.29), Valeria Villagran's victory in the 50m butterfly (29.73), and Elizabeth Fahrney triumphed in the 800m freestyle (10:08.36).
On the men's side, the Mountaineers were downed both Friday (122-102) and Saturday (131-92) to the Virginia Military Institute. Highlights for the men during the weekend included Gregory Afolabi-Brown's 50m butterfly win (26.74), John Wilson's first-place finish in the 100m breaststroke (1:05.81), and Peter Jones' victory in the 100m individual medley (1:00.20).
ALL-TIME SERIES
This will be the fourth consecutive year and 13th all-time meeting between the Mountaineers and the Greyhounds in the pool. Loyola currently holds a 12-0 record over the Mount swimming and diving team. Flashing back to last year's meeting, the Greyhounds downed the Mount 159-111. Highlights of that meeting included Mary Lombardi's victory in the 1000m freestyle (10:56.51), Valeria Villagran's win in the 50m butterfly (26.50), and Lauren Gullickson taking the top spot in the 100m individual medley (1:04.99).
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
The Mountaineer's meet against Loyola wraps up the regular season for 2019-20 campaign. The team will prep for the Northeast Conference Championships held on February 19-22 at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, New York.
