Women's Swimming & Diving Sits in Eighth Place Following Day Two of NEC Championships

DAY 2 RESULTS

East Meadow, N.Y. (February 14, 2019) – The Mount St. Mary's women's swimming and diving team closed out day two of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships on Thursday night at the Nassau County Aquatic Center. The Mount remained in eighth place in the team standings with two days of competition left.

Bryant holds the top spot with 328 points, while Central Connecticut (207 pts) and Wagner (187 pts) round out the top-three teams.

Mary Lombardi posted the Mount's top individual finish on Thursday, placing 13th in the 500 free with a time of 5:08.38. In the 200 IM, Lauren Gullickson clocked in at 2:13.72 for a 20th-place showing to lead the Mountaineers in the event.

In the 200 free relay, the Mount's top relay squad of Valeria Villagran, Jordan Friedman, Gullickson, and Maggie deTar combined for a time of 1:39.84 to place eighth. The relay team of Juliet Whitman, Eliza Felos, Gabrielle Benedictis, and Cassie Mann posted a time of 1:43.21 in the event.

The Mountaineers return to the pool tomorrow (Feb. 15) for day three of the championships. Preliminary heats will begin at 10 a.m., followed by finals at 6 p.m. Friday's events include the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, 3-meter diving, and the 400 yard medley relay.
