FRIDAY FINALS RESULTS
Cambridge, Mass. (February 27, 2015) – Senior Erin Regan (Ft. Washington, Pa.) earned her sixth career Northeast Conference medal, taking the silver in the 100 fly to highlight the Mount St. Mary's women's swimming team's effort on Friday at the NEC Championships at MIT. In the team competition, the Mount sits in fifth place with 194 points.
Regan touched the wall second in the 100 fly in 55.78, which was .05 seconds off her own school record of 55.73 at last year's NEC Championships. The senior from Ft. Washington, Pa. has now turned in a top two performance in all four of her trips to the Championships, becoming the first Mount swimmer to accomplish the feat.
The Mount's 400 medley relay team made up of Amanda Moore (Katy, Texas), Haley Fournier (Ave Maria, Fla.), Regan and Lenna Castro Marquez (Silver Spring, Md.) put together a 3:54.28 time to take fifth and set a new program record.
Moore also set a school record in the 100 back with a time of 58.43 to place third in the B Finals on the day. She breaks the previous record of 58.63 held by Cat Coppler from the 2012 NEC Championships. Morgan Runk (Toms River, N.J.) finished less than two seconds after Moore in sixth in the 100 back B Finals with a time of 1:00.14. Alexandra Kelly (Hanover, Mass.) turned in a fourth place finish in the C Finals of the event in 1:04.49.
In other finishes in the 100 fly, Anne Thelen (Raleigh, N.C.) took home eighth in the B Finals in 1:00.49, while Kelly and Hailey Vogt (Paramus, N.J.) claimed second and third in the C Finals with times of 1:01.34 and 1:02.75, respectively.
Mount St. Mary's added three strong finishes in the B Finals of the 400 IM courtesy of Sarah Bonson (Lewistown, Pa.), Fournier and Juliette Lacoste (Barnstable, Mass.). Finishing less than half a second off the school record, Bonson clocked in at 4:37.12 to place third. Fournier's 4:38.89 finish helped her take fifth with Lacoste claiming seventh in 4:40.48. Competing in the C Finals, Bridget Vaughan (Olney, Md.) touched the wall in 4:39.45 to take first.
In the B Finals of the 100 breast, freshman Hunter Montevideo (Mt. Airy, Md.) finished in fourth in 1:12.46, followed by sophomore Claire McManimon (Ewing, N.J.) in sixth with a 1:13.45 finish and senior Catherine Sukovich (Flemington, N.J.) in eighth in 1:14.84.
A trio of Mount swimmers qualified for the C Finals of the 200 free with Castro Marquez taking second in 1:56.08, JeMoon Won (Springfield, Va.) earning fifth with a 1:58.18 finish and Katie Powell (Sewell, N.J.) checking in at eighth in 2:01.24.
Central Connecticut is leading the team competition with 536 points with Wagner close behind at 508 points. Bryant and Saint Francis U are in third (396 pts.) and fourth (303 pts.), followed by the Mount, Sacred Heart and St. Francis Brooklyn.
The Northeast Conference Championships conclude tomorrow.
