Mount St. Mary's Breaks Seven School Records in First-Ever Win Over Saint Francis U

COMPLETE RESULTS

Emmitsburg, Md. (October 24, 2015)--Mount St. Mary's University broke seven school records in a 154-108 over Saint Francis U on Saturday afternoon at the Mount St. Mary's Swimming Pool.  It was the Mount's first win over the Red Flash in 10 all-time meetings.

Amanda Moore (Katy, Texas/Cinco Ranch) broke three school records, Haley Fournier (Naples, Fla.) added a pair of school marks, with Maddie McGraw (Metairie, La.) and the 200-meter medley relay team also setting school marks in the victory.

The Mountaineers (2-0) started the meet off strong by winning the 200-meter medley relay in a school-record time of 2:01.33.  The relay included McGraw, Lauren Gullickson (Staten Island, N.Y.), Moore and Juliette Lacoste (Centerville, Mass.).

The Mount then had the top two finishers in the 800-meter freestyle to take control of the meet.  Fournier broke her own school record with her winning time of 9:04.91.  Bridget Vaughan (Spring, Texas) finished in second place.

The Mountaineers also had the top two finishers in the 100-meter backstroke as McGraw edged teammate Morgan Runk (Toms River, N.J.) win the race.  McGraw won with a time of 1:06.77 to clip Runk (1:07.18) as both swimmers bested the previous school record of 1:07.31 set by Moore last season.

Sarah Bonson (Lewiston, Pa.) and Mary Lombardi (Broomfield, Colo.) finished first and second for the Mount in the 200-meter butterfly.  Bonson's winning time was 2:26.51, a narrow 0.42 seconds ahed of Lombardi.

The most exciting finish of the day was in the 50-meter freestyle when Moore edged Saint Francis U's Katie Lafferty by .03 seconds for first place.  Moore's winning time of 26.96 seconds was both a school and a pool record.

Moore followed her performance in the 50-free by winning the 100-meter freestyle in a dominating performance.  Her time of 57.64 broke the school record by a little more than two seconds while also setting a new pool record.  Moore finished nearly four seconds ahead of the second-place finisher, Jessica Reilly of Saint Francis U (5-4).

Runk reversed the outcome of the 100-meter backstroke by edging McGraw in the 200-meter backstroke.  Runk had a winning time of 2:25.72, just 0.24 seconds ahead of McGraw.

The Mountaineers had the top two finishers in each of the next three events.  In the 200-meter breaststroke, Alyssa Felos (West Attleboro, Mass.) had a winning time of 2:45.86 with Gullickson finishing in second place.

In the 400-meter freestyle, Fournier broke her own school record with a winning time of 4:26.02 with Lombardi taking second place.  Moore's third school and pool record of the day was in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:04.28, breaking her own school mark set in the season opener this year.  Bonson finished in second place with a time of 1:07.20.

The Mountaineers are back in action on Friday, October 30, when they travel to American to face both the Eagles and Howard.
