Mount Women's Swimming Secures Wins over Gordon and Rollins in Florida

Winter Park, Fla. (January 7, 2015) – The Mount St. Mary's women's swimming team kicked off the 2015 portion of its schedule with a pair of victories over Gordon College and Rollins College at the Alfond Pool on Wednesday afternoon. The Mountaineers won seven of the nine individual events and one of two relays on the day.

In the team competition, the Mount defeated Gordon, 76-19, and beat the host school, Rollins, by a 64-31 margin.

Individually, Haley Fournier, Erin Regan and Amanda Moore all won two events, while Anne Thelen collected the Mount's other victory.

Fournier touched the wall first in the 1000 free (10:41.08) and the 100 breast (1:09.80). Her 100 breast time was the best for a Mount swimmer on the year, as was her second-place time of 5:09.10 in the 500 free.

Regan's victories came in the 100 free (55.42), as well as the 200 free in 1:56.43, ranking as the second-fastest time by a Mount swimmer this season.  

Two more wins on the day for Moore were in the 50 free (25.40) and the 100 back (1:01.61), while Thelen touched the wall less than half a second ahead of teammate Sarah Bonson to win the 100 fly (1:01.99). Bonson added another second place finish in the 200 IM (2:18.81).

The Mount's 200 medley relay squad of Morgan Runk, JeMoon Won, Regan and Moore put together a winning time of 1:55.27, besting the next team from Rollins College by just over a second.

Next on the schedule, the Mountaineers compete at the Mount Swimming Pool for the final time this season when they face Duquesne on Saturday, Jan. 17, at 1 p.m. The meet will be streamed live on NECFrontRow.com.
