Emmitsburg, Md. (November 8, 2014) – The Mount St. Mary's women's swimming team turned in 10 first-place finishes out of the 11 events in a 111-87 victory over McDaniel in Saturday's home debut.
Junior Haley Fournier won three individual events and was one of three Mountaineers to set a school record on the afternoon.
Fournier broke the school record for the 100m breast (1:15.67), while Amanda Moore posted the program's best time in the 100m back (1:07.31), and Erin Regan set a new school record for the 200m IM (2:28.53).
The Mount opened the day with a victory in the 200 medley relay when Morgan Runk, JeMoon Won, Erin Regan and Catherine Sukovich combined for a time of 2:07.63.
The rest of the afternoon, the Mount's dominating performance continued highlighted by three wins for Fournier and two for sophomore Amanda Moore.
Fournier won the 800 free (9:21.67), finishing more than 40 seconds ahead of the next finisher. In other victories on the day, Fournier touched the wall first in the 100 free (1:01.28), besting the second-place finisher from McDaniel by less than half a second, before winning the 100 breast (1:15.67).
Moore posted first-place times in the 200 free (2:10.48) and the 100 back (1:07.31).
Other top times on the day were collected by Regan in the 200 IM (2:28.53), sophomore Sarah Bonson in the 100 fly (1:07.62) and freshman Juliette Lacoste in the 400 free (4:49.15).
To cap Saturday's meet, Regan, Moore, Lenna Castro Marquez and Sukovich completed the Mount's performance by turning in the top time in the 200 free relay (1:53.38).
The Mount returns to action with the Franklin and Marshall Invitational Nov. 21-23 in Lancaster, Pa.
