Mount Women's Swimming Impressive on Friday at St. Francis Brooklyn

RESULTS

Brooklyn Heights, N.Y. (October 31, 2014) – The Mount St. Mary's women's swimming team put on a dominating performance on Friday night on the road with wins in nine of the 11 events versus Northeast Conference opponent St. Francis Brooklyn at the SFC Aquatics Center.

The Mountaineers also took home six second-place finishes versus the Terriers at the meet.

In the 200 medley relay, the Mount's squad of Morgan Runk, Haley Fournier, Erin Regan and Amanda Moore pieced together a winning time of 1:53.96, which is the best time for the Mount in the event this season.

Moore, who added two more individual wins, was only getting started. The sophomore from Katy, Texas bested the field in the 200 IM (2:17.37) before adding another top finish in the 100 back (1:02.49).

Regan went on to win the 500 free (5:14.86), and Fournier edged the second-place finisher in the 200 free by less than a second with a winning time of 1:59.11. In another highly-contested race, senior Anne Thelen claimed first in the 100 fly in 1:02.18, beating the second-place finisher by .21 seconds.

Freshman JeMoon Won and junior Lenna Castro Marquez notched their first wins of the season. Won touched the wall first in the 50 free in 26.64, while Marquez was victorious in the 100 free with a time of 57.30.

In the final event of the day, the Mount was again on the winning end of the 200 free relay to sweep both relays. Thelen and Won teamed with freshman Juliette Lacoste and junior Katie Powell for a top time of 1:45.57.

Tomorrow, the Mount returns to action at Wagner at 11 a.m.
