Mount Women's Swimming Falls to Saint Francis U as Fournier Breaks School Record

RESULTS

Loretto, Pa. (October 18, 2014) -- In an early-season Northeast Conference test on the road at Saint Francis U, the Mount women's swimming team was handed a 151-107 defeat despite a number of standout individual performances. Junior Haley Fournier won a pair of races and broke a school record on the afternoon.

The Mount (0-1) was competing for the second time this season with Saturday marking the squad's first dual meet. Fournier and senior Erin Regan both notched two individual victories, while sophomore Amanda Moore added one win for the Mountaineers.

After setting program records in the 1650 free, 100 breast, 200 breast and 400 IM a season ago, Fournier picked up right where she left off with a program-best time of 10:32.27 to win the 1000 free on Saturday. Fournier, who is in her second year with the Mount after transferring from Saint Francis, notched another win in the 500 free in 5:17.06.

Picking up one of the Mount's three second-place finishes on the day, Fournier turned in a 2:14.91 finish in the 200 IM.

Regan swept the butterfly events on Saturday with victories in the 100 and 200 fly. The senior won the 200 fly in 2:09.28, edging the second-place finisher by more than two seconds and was the only competitor to break one minute in the 100 fly in 59.29.

Moore was victorious in the 100 back by the slightest of margins. Her time of 1:00.62 was 0.26 seconds better than the second-place finisher from Saint Francis.

Moore also took home second place in the 100 free in 53.68, while freshman JeMoon Won touched the wall in 2:01.33 in the 200 free to earn second overall.

Next on the schedule, the Mount makes a return trip to American University to face American, Howard and VMI on Friday, Oct. 24, at 5 p.m.
