Mount St. Mary's Women's Swimming Falls at Duquesne, 149-100

Pittsburgh (January 25, 2014) -- Despite a 149-100 loss at Duquesne's Towers Pool on Saturday, the Mount St. Mary's women's swimming team put together a number of strong performances, including wins in two individual events and the 400 freestyle relay.

The Mount (3-3) has one more meet on Jan. 31 at Loyola to get ready for the Northeast Conference Championships in February. Duquesne (6-2) won the first five races and nine of the first 10 on the day.

Erin Regan's 200 fly time of 2:07.60, which was the second-best time for a Mount swimmer in the event this season, was good enough to pick up the win on Saturday afternoon. Haley Fournier notched the Mountaineers' other individual victory in the 500 free (5:11.78), besting the next competitor by just under seven seconds.

Later in the meet in the 400 freestyle relay, Regan and Fournier teamed up with Mollie Walsh and Amanda Moore for the day's best finish of 3:41.16. The time was also in the top two for the four-member relay squad in 2013-14.

Also excelling in the individual events, Fournier placed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.76) as did Regan in the 100 free (54.53) and 100 fly (59.35). Moore's 25.45 finish in the 50 free helped her earn second place as well.

Up next, the Mount takes on local rival Loyola on Jan. 31 in Baltimore, Md.
