Mount Men's Golf Claims 20th after Navy Spring Invitational First Day

Day One Results

Annapolis, Md. (April 20, 2013) -- The Mount men's golf team is in 20th place after the first round of the Navy Spring Invitational on Saturday at the Naval Academy Golf Club. The Mount has a team score of 321 through 18 holes. 

Michael Pansini was the Mountaineers' top finisher of the day with a first round 77 (+6) to place in a 12-way tie for 43rd place.  

Carding an 80 (+9) in round one, Mike Shine was the Mount's No. 2 performer on the day. Shine is sitting in a tie for 72nd. One stroke behind Shine was Andrew Lawton in a tie for 80th place with a first round score of 81 (+10). 

In fourth for the Mountaineers after the first day of play is Eric Flockhart, who is tied for 91st with his round of 83 (+12). 

Navy and Virginia are tied atop the leader board with a first round score of 294. Virginia Tech and Wake Forest are two strokes behind at 296 in a tie for third. 

Individually, Evan Beck of Wake Forest and Nick McLaughlin are leading the pack with first day totals of 70 (-1) as the only players below par on Saturday. 

Action at the Navy Spring Invitational will conclude tomorrow.
