Grasonville, Md. (March 31, 2013) – Following round one action at the Whiting-Turner Towson University Invitational at Prospect Bay Country Club on Sunday, the Mount St. Mary's men's golf team is tied for 19th place behind Eric Flockhart's score of 76 (+4).
Flockhart's day included an eagle on the par-5 first hole and a birdie on the par-3 seventh en route to tying his career-best round of 76. Individually, Flockhart is tied for 21st place with the top score for the Mount, which has a team total of 323 strokes.
Mike Shine, who birdied the par-4 14th hole, carded an opening day 78 (+6) for the Mount's second-best score. Shine is sitting in a tie for 47th on an individual level.
Sunday's 84 (+12), aided by a birdie on 18, landed Michael Pansini third on the team and tied for 99th in the field.
Finishing out the Mount's five on the day were Andrew Lawton (85) and Zach O'Grady (88).
Jeremy Wells of William and Mary fired a first-round 68 (-4) to lead the pack. William and Mary also leads the team competition with 291 strokes.
Action is scheduled to resume tomorrow morning.
