WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 4, 2013) -- The Mount St. Mary's women's swimming team turned in a number of noteworthy performances at the Potomac Relays on Friday at American University to kick off the 2013-14 campaign.
The 200 freestyle squad comprised of senior Mollie Walsh, junior Erin Regan and freshmen Amanda Moore and Allison Baker turned in a solid performance with a time of 1:40.15 to take fourth, finishing ahead of teams from George Washington, Georgetown and American, among others.
Moore and Baker, who were making their Mount debuts, were also part of the 500 freestyle relay team that placed fourth on the day out of 13 relay teams. The two freshmen again teamed up with Walsh and added sophomore Haley Fournier into the mix to put together a time of 4:47.48. Fournier was also competing for the Mount for the first time in her career.
In the 800 freestyle relay, the team of Fournier, Moore, Regan and another newcomer, freshman Sarah Bonson, finished with a time of 8:02.87, which was good enough for a fifth place finish on the day.
With a time of 10:33.65, again Fournier and Bonson took home fourth place in the 1000 freestyle relay.
The Mount will make its home debut on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 1 p.m. versus Saint Francis University at the Mount Swimming Pool.
