Mount Women's Swimming Races Past McDaniel, 59-36

Westminster, Md. (October 26, 2013) -- First-place finishes in nine of the 11 events helped the Mount St. Mary's women's swimming team earn a 59-36 win at McDaniel on Saturday afternoon. The win evens the Mountaineers' record at 1-1 on the season. 

Junior Erin Regan and freshman Amanda Moore registered two individual victories then teamed up to help win the 200 freestyle relay against McDaniel, which was making its season debut. As a team, the Mount secured nine first-place finishes and four second-place finishes.  

Regan won the 500 free (5:21.39) and the 200 IM (2:12.45), while Moore turned in top times in the 100 butterfly (1:01.09) and the 200 free (1:57.58).  

A trio of newcomers to the 2013-14 team, freshmen Sarah Bonson and Allison Baker as well as sophomore Haley Fournier, all chipped in with one win and one second-place finish apiece. 

Bonson bested the rest of the competitors in the 1000 free (11:04.95), then was the runner up in the 100 fly (1:02.28). 

In the 100 free, Baker had the best time of the day (55.99) and finished second to Moore in the 200 free (2:02.39). 

Fournier won the 100 breast (1:08.57) and turned in a second-place performance in the 200 IM (2:14.30). 

Senior Mollie Walsh, who placed first in the 50 free (24.93), was also part of the winning 200 free relay with Regan, Moore and Lenna Castro Marquez in 1:40.03. 

On Nov. 2, the Mount will compete at home for the final time this season versus Wagner at 1 p.m.
