The Mount got points from freshman Adam Salam and junior Mike Salomon. Salam won in the No. 2 spot over Jimmy Davis, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. Salomon won in the No. 4 spot, 6-2, 6-4.
About The Eagles: Coppin State is coming off a 5-2 loss to a fellow NEC team, St. Francis Pa. The Eagles got wins at the No. 1 and 2 spots. They earned the win at No. 1 after the Red Flash player withdrew due to injury.
Last Time We Met: The Mount defeated the Eagles 7-0 last year in Emmitsburg. The Mountaineers took the doubles point and never looked back. They also won all six singles matches to roll to an easy victory.
All-Time Series: The Mount holds a commanding 10-2 record over Coppin State. The last Coppin State win was back in 2005. The Mount has won the last three matches, including the first ever match back in 1997. The Mountaineers won 7-0 in Emmitsburg.
Blake and Place On Fire: The duo has been on a tear this season. They have a 10-6 record on the season, with most of those wins coming this spring. Taylor Place entered the top 10 career doubles wins, with 38 on his career. The record is 49 held by Jeff Lamberton. Place can break the record next year if he keeps up this pace.
Salomon Coming For That Number One Spot: Junior Mike Salomon has 56 career singles victories, putting him in 2nd place all time. He trails Sanjaya Wijemanne, who had 72 in his illustrious career. He can break the single season record with three more wins. He has 25 on the year and trails Wijemanne who had 27.
