LITTLESTOWN, Pa. – Kelsey Hayward (Seekonk, Mass./St. Mary's Academy) finished 14th to lead the Mount St. Mary's women's golf team to a fifth-place standing at the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational on Tuesday.
Hayward posted an 89 and an 84 on the first day and then notched an 80 on Tuesday to finish with a score of 253 and in 14th place, 18 strokes behind the medalist.
Sarah Roe (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park Memorial) (17th place, 257), Nicole Fazio (Lower Gwynedd, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy) (18th place, 258), Christina Hall (Wall, N.J./Wall) (24th place, 264) and Abbey Fry (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) (26th place, 267) rounded out the Mount's team competitors.
Rebecca Lynch (Ledyard, Conn./Ledyard) (28th place, 274) and Sara Fuss (Newtown Square, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) (34th place, 296) competed in the event as an individual.
Central Connecticut State and Robert Morris finished tied with a 974, but the Blue Devils took the title after winning the one-hole playoff while Fairfield (977), Wagner (988), the Mount (1025), St. Francis (N.Y.) (1124) rounded out the six-team field.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action at the NEC Championships on Apr. 27.
