GRANSONVILLE, Md. – Devin O'Grady (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) finished 11th to lead the Mount St. Mary's men's golf team to a ninth-place finish at the Towson Fireline Invitational on Sunday.
O'Grady posted a 76 in the final round after notching one of the best single-round scores in program history with a five-under round of 67 on Saturday. The sophomore carded a 75 in the first round and finished the three-day event with a two-over total of 218, nine strokes behind the medalist. O'Grady had seven birdies, five bogeys and a double bogey in the three rounds.
Ryan Triller (Street, Md./North Harford) (24th place, 222), Danny Michalek (Mount Airy, Md./Mount St. Joseph) (56th place, 227), Kevin Ellison (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) (65th place, 229) and Tonny Aizpun (Barcelona, Spain/ Lycee Francais De Barcelone) (70th place, 230) rounded out the Mount's five competitors.
Northern Colorado and Seton Hall shared the team title with a score of 871 while Navy (879), Penn State (879) and Binghamton (883) rounded out the Top-5 teams in the 22-team field. The Mount posted scores of 305, 288 and 299 in the three rounds to card an 892 and finish in ninth place. The even round of 288 was the squad's best team mark since registering a one-over round of 289 in the third round of the Maryland Intercollegiate on Sept. 13.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action at the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational on Apr. 16.
