MIDOLOTHIAN, Va. ? Kelsey Hayward (Seeknonk, Mass./St. Mary?s Academy) finished 35th after the first two rounds to lead the Mount St. Mary?s women?s golf team to a 13th-place standing at the Spider Intercollegiate on Monday.
Hayward posted an 83 in the first round and then a 78 in the second round to card a 161 and finish in 35th place, 15 strokes behind the leader.
Sarah Roe (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park Memorial) (53rd place, 167), Abbey Fry (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) (61st place, 171), Christina Hall (Wall, N.J./Wall) (74th place, 180) and Rebecca Lynch (Ledyard, Conn./Ledyard) (80th place, 186) rounded out the Mount?s five team competitors. Nicole Fazio (Lower Gwynedd, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy) (78th place, 184) is competing in the event as an individual.
St. John?s leads the two-day event with a two-round score of 606, seven strokes ahead of Georgetown (613), Richmond (620), Hofstra (635) and Lehigh (637) rounded out the Top-5 teams. The Mount sits in 13th place after posting a 343 and a 335 for a two-round total of 678.
The Mount returns to action in the final round of the Spider Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
