WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Kelsey Hayward (Seekonk, Mass./St. Mary's Academy) finished 19th to lead the Mount St. Mary's women's golf team to a 18th-place finish after the first round of the C&F Bank Invitational on Sunday.
Hayward finished posted a 78 in the first round to place 19th after the first round, seven strokes behind the current leader. The freshman posted the only birdie from a Mount player on the afternoon.
Sarah Roe (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park Memorial) (83rd place, 88), Christina Hall (Wall, N.J./Wall) (90th place, 91), Nicole Fazio (Lower Gwynedd, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy) (94th place, 92) and Rebecca Lynch (97 place, 93) rounded out the Mount's competitors.
Longwood leads the three-day event with a score of 300, seven strokes ahead of St. John's (307) while St. Leo (308), Toledo (308) and High Point (308) round out the Top-5 teams in the field. The Mount finished the first round in 18th place with a score of 349.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action at the C&F Bank Invitational on Monday in the second round.
