Emmitsburg, Md. (March 16, 2012)-- The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team fell to Niagara on Friday afternoon, 4-3 in Emmitsburg. The Mount took the doubles point early, but lost four of the six singles matches to lose the match.
The junior tandem of Matthew Blake and Taylor Place continued their hot streak by winning at No. 1 doubles, 8-6 over Brandon Gallegos and Raymond. Mike Salomon and Adam Salam defeated Lorenz Schowjen and Oliver Dutoun-Counsel, 9-7 to win the doubles point.
In singles action, Matthew Blake won at the No. 1 spot over Joe Zalic to get the singles action started. Blake won 6-1, 6-1. Salomon earned the other point for MSM, by knocking off his opponent, Lorenz Schowjen, 7-6 (1), 6-3 at the No. 4 spot.
The men return to action today, Saturday March 17 against both Robert Morris and St. Francis Pa. First serve is scheduled for 12:00 PM in Emmitsburg.
