DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Kevin Ellison (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) finished 20th to lead the Mount St. Mary's men's golf team to an eighth-place standing at the Gary Freeman B-CU Invitational on Wednesday.
Ellison came into the final round with a score of 145 and five strokes behind the leader after shooting a 76 in the first round and a 69 in the second round. The sophomore posted an 82 in the final round to finish in 20th place with a score of 227, 15 strokes behind the medalist.
Devin O'Grady (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) (23rd place, 229), Danny Michalek (Mount Airy, Md./Mount St. Joseph) (30th place, 230), Tonny Aizpun (Barcelona, Spain/Lycee Francais De Barcelone) (37th place, 233) and Ryan Triller (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) (40th place, 235) rounded out the Mount's five team competitors. Andrew Lawton (Severna Park, Md./Mount St. Joseph) (35th place, 232) competed in the event as an individual.
Laval won the three-round two-day event with a score of 873, three strokes ahead of Bethune-Cookman (876) while Florida Atlantic (882), Embry-Riddle (888) and Morehead State (898) rounded out the Top-5 teams. The Mount finished eighth after posting a 307, 301 and 305 in the three rounds for a score of 913.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action at the Lonnie Barton Invitational on Monday.
