Men's Golf Competes At Donald Ross Intercollegiate; Second Round Halted Due To Darkness

MORGANTON, N.C. - Sophomore Ryan Triller (Street, Md./North Harford) sits in 25th place after playing 31 holes at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate to pace the Mount St. Mary's men's golf team on Monday. A rain delay in the morning postponed the start of the opening round and play was stopped due to darkness.

Triller posted a one-over round of 70 in the first round and is currently three over in the second round before play was halted. The sophomore is eight strokes behind the current leader, who has played 32 holes in the event.

Tonny Aizpun (Barcelona, Spain/Lycee Francais De Barcelone) (57th place, 129), Andrew Lawton (Severna Park, Md./Mount St. Joseph)  (67th place, 130), Kevin Ellison (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) (86th place, 138) and Eric Flockhart (Mississauga, Ontario/St. Francis Xavier) (90th, 140) round out the Mount's five competitors.

Through one round, James Madison leads the three-round two-day event with a score of 281, four strokes ahead of Western Carolina while Wofford (286), Lynn (290) and Appalachain State (291) round out the Top-5 teams. The Mount finished the first round with a 303 in 16th place.

Teams have played between five and 14 holes in the second round and will resume play at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
