Women's Swimming Falls To Duquesne, 152-100

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Duquesne defeated Mount St. Mary's 152-100 in non-conference women's swimming action on Saturday.

Cat Coppler (Enfield, Conn./Enrico Fermi) paced the Mount with two first-place finishes and a third-place standing. The sophomore won the 200 free (1:58.82) and the 200 IM (2:17.97) while also placing third in the 50 free (25.75).

Courtney Griffith (Westminster, Md./Westminster) notched the squad's third victory of the afternoon in the 100 fly (1:00.95). Griffith also placed third in the 100 free (55.28).

Erin Regan (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) posted three second-place finishes in the 1650 free (18.25.79), the 200 fly (2:14.76) and the 100 fly (1:02.77). Patricia Yam (Placenta, Calif./Rosary) was second in the 500 free (5:32.31) and third in the 100 back (2:20.32) while Mollie Walsh (Havertown, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) finished third in the 200 back (2:20.32) and in the 100 fly (1:05.18).

Amanda Malmstrom (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) (2:25.41) and Catherine Sukovich (Ringoes, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional) (2:44.42) finished 2-3 in the 200 IM, respectively.

The relay team of Walsh, Yam, Regan and Anne Thelen (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) won the 400-free relay (3:49.75) while the quartet of Molly Kristiniak (Oreland, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy), Nicole Helmick (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll), Victoria Shaw (Malvern, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and Murphy Alafoginis (Lawrenceville, Pa./Wellsboro Area) finished second in the event (4:15.16). Griffith, Thelen, Walsh and Coppler teamed up to place second in the 200-medley relay (1:54.56).

Mount St. Mary's returns to action when it hosts Loyola in its final home meet of the year on Feb. 4. Events start at 11 a.m.
