EMMITSBURG, Md. – Sophomore Kevin Ellison (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) finished 30th to lead the Mount St. Mary's men's golf team to an 11th-place finish at the Turning Stone Intercollegiate on Monday. The event was the Mount's first event of the 2011-12 campaign.
Ellison posted rounds of 75, 73 and 78 to card a 226 in the three rounds to placed 30th, 18 strokes behind the medalist.
Tonny Aizpun (Barcelona, Spain/Lycee Francais De Barcalone) (32nd place, 227), Ryan Triller (Street, Md./North Harford) (36th place, 228), Dan Michalek (Mount Airy, Md./Mount St. Joseph) (53rd place, 234) and Andrew Lawton (Severna Park, Md./Mount St. Joseph) (62nd place, 239) rounded out the Mount's five competitors. Triller made his collegiate debut in the event.
Baylor won the two-day three-round event with a score of 853, 11 strokes ahead of TCU (864) while Purdue (866), Missouri (866) and Bowling Green (881) rounded out the Top-5 teams. The Mountaineers sat in sixth place after posting a 300 and 290, but moved down to 11th place after carding a 324 in the final to finish with a total of 914.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action at the Maryland Intercollegiate in Cambridge, Md., on Sept. 12-13.
