PHOENIX, Md. – Sarah Roe (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park Memorial) ranks 37th after the first round to lead the Mount St. Mary's women's golf team to a 12th-place standing at the Towson Invitational. The season-opening event was halted at one point to due rain, but resumed to finish the opening round.
Roe posted a 41 on the front nine and a 43 on the back nine to card an 84 in the round and finish in 37th place, 11 strokes behind the current leader.
Christina Hall (Wall, N.J./Wall) (38th place, 85), Jen Kim (Lansdale, Pa./Methacton) (48th place, 87), Kelsey Hayward (Seekonk, Mass./St. Mary's Academy) (67th place, 93) and Nicole Fazio (Lower Gywnedd, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy) (69th place, 94) rounded out the Mount's five competitors. Kim and Hayward are making their collegiate debut in the event.
William & Mary leads the two-day event with a score of 313, four strokes ahead of St. John's (317) and Old Dominion (317) while Delaware (322) and Columbia (324) round out the Top-5 teams in the field. The Mount sits in 12th place after posting a first round score of 349.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Monday in the final round of the Towson Invitational. Tee time is 8:30 a.m.
