West Windsor, N.J. (April 15, 2011)--Mount St. Mary's lost to
Quinnipiac, 4-0, in the Quarterfinal Round at the Northeast
Conference Championships held at the Mercer County Tennis Center on
Friday afternoon.
The Mount (7-12) played tough in doubles play, but the Bobcats
won two of the three matches to earn the point. Andrew
Marinucci and Patrick
Plastow posted an 8-4 win over Micah Bailey and Dillon Kraus at
No. 3 doubles. The Bobcats, however, got an 8-2 win at No. 2
doubles and sealed the point when Andrew Weeden and Brian Mikkelson
edged Matthew
Blake and Taylor
Place, 8-6, at the No. 1 spot.
In singles play, Weeden defeated Blake, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 1
singles, James Kwei earned a 6-0, 6-1 win over Mike
Zabetakis at No. 3, and Corey Morgenstern posted a 6-2,
6-0 win at No. 6 singles over Andrew
Marinucci for the 4-0 win.
The consolation matches for Saturday have been cancelled.
The Mount finishes the season with a 7-12 record.
