March 16, 2011--The Mount St. Mary's men's and
women's tennis teams earned victories over the University of the
District of Columbia at the Mount St. Mary's Tennis Courts today.
The women's team cruised to a 6-1 win while the men's team rallied
for a 4-3 victory.
On the women's side, the Mount took five of six singles matches
to clinch the victory. Emily
Bolchoz set the pace with a three-set victory over Jessica
Nunez at the No. 1 position. Kelly
Conroy won in straight sets at No. 3 singles (6-3, 6-0) while
Carly
Landini outlasted Sophia Leon in three sets (6-3, 5-7, 7-5) at
No. 4 singles. Emma
Haley and Renee
Deane cruised to straight set wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles
as well.
In doubles play, the Mount won at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots to
take the 1-0 lead. Samantha
Pinchoff and Conroy earned an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles while
Landini and Haley were 8-1 winners at No. 3.
On the men's side, the Mount took two of three matches to take
the doubles point and a 1-0 lead in the match. Matthew

Place teamed for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles while Patrick
Plastow and Andrew
Marinucci posted wins at the No. 3 spot.
Blake won 6-1, 0-6, 6-1 at No. 1 singles while UDC won at No. 2,
No. 3 and No. 4 singles to take a 3-2 lead in the match. Plastow
came through with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles and Andrew
Marinucci clinched the victory with a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 6
spot.
The Mount men's team returns to action on Saturday, March 19,
with a 2:00 p.m. home match against Sacred Heart. Both teams play
at Bucknell on Tuesday, March 22.
